What Lies Beneath is a photographic series created as part of the Eyes on Main Street artist residency in Wilson, North Carolina. This immersive experience offered me the opportunity to wander through a Southern town with complete freedom—free to observe, to meet, to feel. This work emerged from wandering, from encounter, from a deliberate openness to the real. My approach was not journalistic or analytical; it was sensitive, almost instinctive. I let myself be guided by faces, gestures, silences, walls, trees, empty spaces. It is a documentary project, but it is not a reportage. It is a visual poem, a humanist vision of what unites us beyond what separates us. A quiet reflection on our shared humanity, on the fragile and elusive moments that define daily life.
